knowledge is power

they say — but can you do it?

actions speak louder

our birthright

1

nearly all of us are born with a high-spec postural support system:

  • anti-gravity effect

  • ensures productive, vertical living

  • two-stage fail-safe approach

primary postural support:

  • uses our quiet strength (reflexive, type I muscle fibres)

  • reflexively controlled

  • no need to actively manage or control

  • operates tirelessly

  • all-day-long ease & alignment

  • safety off-switch to protect spine and core

secondary postural support:

  • uses our active strength (volitional, type II muscle fibres)

  • switches on whenever safety of primary system is compromised

  • operates as a fail-safe protective back-up

  • still reflexively controlled

  • no need to actively manage or control

  • although additional conscious bracing is possible

  • works as long as it can to get the job done.

catastrophic system failure!

1

if life were only that simple!

overload protection:

  • primary system is very sensitive

  • sensibly designed to protect spine and core

  • safety-switch when in danger of overload

  • routes all protection to secondary system

modern living → safety switch stuck gets ON

  • primary system gets disabled & weak

  • secondary systems works until it breaks

  • normal life stops when both systems fail

is there a better way?

1

why does nature prefer quiet strength over active strength to power postural support?

  • in almost every other way, quiet strength is a better choice!

  • apart from when it fails!

  • explore what you've already tried

  • or go deeper with this practice

  • depth is a choice
